#GiveBackGuide

It’s Giving Tuesday and nonprofit organizations need your help now more than ever. Not sure where to give? Want to know that what you do give will make an impact?

Here’s a list of local organizations that directly impact our Morristown community and could definitely use a little extra help this holiday season.

Big Brothers Bis Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a local nonprofit that provides one-to-one mentoring for children ages 6-18 throughout 10 counties in New Jersey, including right here in Morristown. Volunteer Bigs provide consistent and essential mentorship to their Littles who need a positive role model to guide and support them on their paths to becoming responsible adults themselves. Support the BBBS mission this giving season and you’ll be helping to ignite a child’s potential. For more information on becoming a Big or to donate, visit: www.mentornj.org

The Greater Morristown YMCA

Founded in 1874, The Greater Morristown YMCA, Inc. is an organization focused on youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living. As part of one of the nation’s leading non-profit organizations, we work to ensure that the Y is accessible to ALL people, regardless of age, income or background. We play a critical role in enriching the lives of hundreds of underserved residents by offering financial assistance for programs, services, and memberships through our Annual Support Campaign. Although the YMCA is best known for its fitness and aquatics facilities, the Greater Morristown YMCA’s philanthropic focus is childcare. We manage three renowned NAEYC accredited childcare centers and a before care and after school care program with Morris Plains, taking care of hundreds of children each day. Grow It Green

Giving to Grow It Green Morristown supports the community you call home. With you, we bring young children of Morris School District, Morristown high school students, local families, aspiring young farmers, and volunteers of all ages back to The Urban Farm and Early Street Community Garden, safely reconnecting and learning. Your gift gets more people eating and growing fresh food while caring for the environment at the farm, garden, greenhouse and winter market, which carries greater health into their own homes. Join with Grow It Green to put local fresh food on people’s tables; together we create a more just, equitable and sustainable food system right in your own backyard. Click here to #GiveBack.

Homeless Solutions

Our philosophy is “a hand up, not a handout.” As a private, nonprofit organization, Homeless Solutions has been helping the homeless and working poor in our community since 1983. We are unique in what we do. It’s not just about providing a warm meal and a place to sleep. Our goal is to give those we serve the tools and surroundings they need to rebuild their lives and become self-sufficient. Our Continuum of Housing sets our nonprofit apart from others through our Emergency Shelter, Transitional Housing Program (THP), Warming Center, Mt. Kemble Home, and Affordable Housing. #GiveBack here.

The Market Street Mission

The Market Street Mission is an experienced organization with a proven method of helping to fight alcoholism, drug abuse, hunger and homelessness in Northern New Jersey. Since 1889, we have been serving the community through our Emergency Services and addiction recovery Life Change Program. Our mission at Market Street is to surround our neighbors with God’s love and everything they need to get back on their feet – food and shelter, counseling and job training, spiritual guidance and Bible study – to live stable, productive lives in our community. Thanks so much for your support of the work we do here! #GiveBack here.

911 Dog & Cat Rescue

911 Dog & Cat Rescue is a volunteer-run 501c3 rescue group formed in Morristown in 2010. We have spent the past decade rescuing dogs and cats from the streets of Morristown as well as from the overcrowded local shelters. We could not save the lives we do if it wasn’t for the support of our community! #GiveBack here.

Mrs. Wilson’s Treatment Center

Mrs. Wilson’s provides compassionate, comprehensive treatment and housing for women who are seeking services for substance use and co-occurring disorders.

Recovery begins the moment a woman reaches out to Mrs. Wilson’s. The clinical staff implements a program of recovery designed to address the individual woman’s physical, emotional, spiritual, and vocational needs. #GiveBack here.
